Hey everybody! I’d like to introduce you to Rex.
Rex is a 1954 Kaiser Manhattan sedan powered by a flathead 6 cylinder engine and a two speed automatic transmission. Now I know many of you are thinking Kaiser “oh this must be a German car” well actually they were built in Michigan. The car has some unique body lines that extend into the grill and even the configuration of the windows. It’s not very likely you’ll see another one of these at your local cruise nights. One thing that’s unique about the Kaiser Manhattan is that these cars came with a factory installed supercharger. This is where the good news and bad news kicks in, the good news is we have the supercharger but the bad news is the car did not come with the brackets to mount the supercharger on the motor. Having said that the car still starts and drives without it and if you could find the brackets and remount the supercharger I imagine the performance would change significantly. The car shows in better than average condition for its age and the interior is in decent shape as well except for the drivers side of the bench seat. The actual dash layout in this car is really cool definitely different than anything else I’ve seen before. The floors and frame and the entire underbody are extremely solid. They also notice that one of the windows in this car is cracked we do have the replacement glass but it has not been installed yet. The Chrome and the remaining lighting are in decent shape but you’ll notice some spider cracking in the tail light assemblies that can be seen in the supplied pictures and videos. Aside from the glass, the only two other issues that need to be addressed car heater controls and the wiper motor as neither one is functioning as they should. If you’re looking for a one of a kind car I think you’ll find Rex is quite unique. Stick with the factory powertrain and see if you can find those supercharger brackets or upgrade to something more modern, either way this car will definitely serve you well.
