That’s My Car!

This week we were fortunate enough to be involved in an automotive reunion!

A week prior, I received an e-mail for a 1950 Dodge we had advertised and all the e-mail said was “That’s my car”! I was unsure how to respond at first. Was this someone saying that I had stolen their car or was this some sort of scam? I simply responded that I didn’t think it was his car.

He explained that he sold a car like that a few years ago and he was sure that it was his old car. We emailed back and forth a few more times and he supplied the serial number, which as it turns out matched our Dodge. After a few more emails and questions we came to an agreement and he purchased the Dodge, which I agreed to deliver as part of the purchase agreement, something we often do.

When I pulled up with the car on the trailer, he came out right away and he quickly gave the car a once over. We finished the paperwork and unloaded the Dodge. He explained to me that he had sold the car more than 13 years ago and always regretted it. His kids were very young at the time but now they old enough to be able to help their dad get his car back. He had been searching for the car for years and just happened to see our ad.

His wife came out to take pictures of the car and the reunion that was taking place. The smile on this mans face when he took it for a quick run up and down his street was something I’ll never forget. He even told me that the car seemed to have a lot more power than he remembered. Whether accurate or not I’m glad we were able to be part of this story.

I’m sure the Dodge will continue to make more happy memories for this family in the years ahead.
