Cookie – 1954 Chrysler Windsor Deluxe

Hey everybody! I’d like to introduce you to Cookie.

Cookie is a 1954 Chrysler Windsor Deluxe powered by a 265 flat head inline 6 cylinder engine with a 1 barrel carburetor and a 2 speed power flite automatic transmission. Which generated a whopping 119 horsepower. This is a pretty heavy car so you won’t be setting any land speed records with it but it still cruises along nicely. The exterior is in pretty good shape with the exception of the chrome on the front and rear bumpers they are fairly rusty and would likely need to be either re-chromed or replaced if you were overly concerned about their appearance.  The interior of the car is in excellent shape as shown in the photos. The headliner shows some staining but is still all in one piece. We didn’t try to do much to clean it up in fear of damaging the fabric but its all still in place and properly mounted. Looking around you may notice that the shifter has no park position. Nothing is broken here this was normal for that era. Once the car is stopped you would leave it in neutral and apply the parking brake, thankfully the parking brake is still operation as well. The drivers rear door window handle is missing the knob which makes it easier to roll that window up and down and we’re still looking for a replacement for it. You’ll also notice that the drivers door rear view mirror is missing. We have it and are trying to figure out a way to re-attach it. Under the hood you’ll notice that the hood latch needs to be repaired as the mount has come loose over time so we’ll get this welded back in place. You’ll also notice that a manual choke has been installed by the previous owner to help with cold starts. A recent tune up has also been performed and a new battery installed. This car still retains its original 6 volt charging system.  The car fires right up and purrs along quietly. The ride is quite smooth for a 66 year old car. If you’re not looking to win any drag races Cookies will still get and give you lots of smiles per gallon.
